Sunpeak — Privacy Policy

Sunpeak is a UV index & sun-safety app for iPhone. It shows the current UV index and UV forecast for your location, plus sunscreen and sun-safety guidance. This policy explains, in plain language, what Sunpeak does and does not do with your data. The short version: Sunpeak uses your device location only to fetch UV data from Apple WeatherKit. Your location is never sold, never used for advertising, and never tracked across apps. Sunpeak has no backend of its own that stores your location.

How Sunpeak uses your location

Sunpeak uses Apple WeatherKit and your device location to fetch the UV index and UV forecast for where you are. This is the core function of the app:

Your location is used only to fetch UV data for your area. It is not sold, not used for advertising, and not tracked across apps or websites.
Your location is sent to Apple WeatherKit to retrieve weather and UV data. It is not stored on a Sunpeak backend — Sunpeak has no backend of its own that stores your location.
Location access is optional and can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security. Apple's handling of WeatherKit requests is governed by Apple's privacy policy.

What data we handle and where it is stored

Analytics

Sunpeak uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how the app is used (for example, that a forecast was viewed or a reminder was set) so we can improve it. This is used only for aggregate product improvement.

What it collects: anonymous product-interaction and usage events, plus a per-install identifier (Apple's Identifier for Vendors, IDFV) and an app-generated random UUID. There is no advertising identifier (IDFA), no ad personalization, and no cross-app or cross-website tracking. We never sell your data.
Never your precise location: Firebase Analytics never receives your precise location. Your location is used only to fetch UV data from Apple WeatherKit.
Not linked to your identity: analytics is not linked to your real-world identity. We do not provide Firebase with your name, email, or Apple ID, and we never call setUserID.
Opting out: you can opt out by disabling analytics sharing at the operating-system level or by deleting the app. The data is used only for aggregate product improvement.
Google's role: Firebase's data handling is governed by Google's privacy policy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy and https://policies.google.com/privacy.

Data we do not collect

Sunpeak does not collect: your name, email address, phone number, contacts, browsing or search history, health data, or any advertising/tracking identifiers. Your location is used only to fetch UV data and is never sold or used for advertising.

Children

Sunpeak is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

Permissions

Location (When In Use): used to fetch local UV index and forecast data from Apple WeatherKit. This is optional and can be revoked at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security.
Notifications (optional): used for reapply-sunscreen reminders and high-UV alerts. You can enable or disable these at any time in iOS Settings.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this URL with a new "Last updated" date.
